TGIF, WG2E-Land!

As many of you know, I started my Indie Epublishing/Self-Publishing Journey with my debut release – BOOTSCOOTIN’ BLAHNIKS – in August 2010.

Two and a half years later, after selling over 100,000 Ebooks, making my first $100,000 in royalties, hitting Amazon and Barnes & Noble’s Top 100 Bestselling Books List, Amazon’s Movers and Shakers List four times (the fourth time just this week), and hitting countless other bestseller lists on multiple platforms and in multiple genres, I thought I knew WHY I was in the self-publishing/indie epublishing business.

Up until this past Tuesday, I thought the reason was to hit every single accomplishment I just listed. Yep…all of those things have been my goals along my Epublishing journey at some point or another.

Tuesday night, as I sat in the surgery waiting room for 7 hours, waiting to hear from my DH’s (Darling Husband) surgeon that he’d successfully completed his double knee replacement, I began to rethink WHY I was self-publishing/indie epublishing.

This afternoon (Thursday), as I sit in a very uncomfortable chair next to my DH’s hospital bed (yes…I’ve been sitting here since 9 PM Tuesday night when the nurses brought him up to his room following surgery), having taken nothing but short power naps for going on 48 hours now and not expecting much more than that through the weekend, now I know WHY I’m self-publishing/indie epublishing.

And guess what?! None of that fabulous stuff I listed above matters at all to me anymore.

Yes, I’m tickled with all of those accomplishments and feel so blessed that I’ve had the guts to keep on keepin’ on until each of those goals has been met and/or surpassed.

But…

The WHY I’m thrilled and the WHY I’m in this business for the long haul has dramatically changed.

If it wouldn’t be for the fact that I’m self-published/indie epublished, working from home on my own schedule, I wouldn’t have the ability to take care of my DH (who is my absolute everything) for the next three months during his recovery.

Not only can I take care of him, I can still run a multi-media empire while I’m doing that (I just sent off book #30 to my editor on Monday, approved the cover for that book, started back into the writing of book #31, and am keeping up – slowly but surely -with multiple sites like The WG2E, RG2E, D. D. Scott-ville and all of my readers too. Oh, and I’m in mid-production on two new audio book series as well.).

And if my DH decides at the end of his recovery that it’s just time to retire, I can make a great living for us with my self-publishing/indie-epublishing royalties.

That’s WHY I’m now thrilled I’m a Bestselling Self-Published/Indie Epublished Author!

What do you think, WG2E-Land? WHY are you self-publishing/indie epublishing? What is at the heart of your WHYs?
